Human Resources Manager

Element has an opportunity for a Human Resources Manager to join our rapidly growing Life Sciences group. The Human Resources Manager will partner with the appropriate Business Unit lab-based leadership teams and the Business Unit Human Resources Director to provide strategic and tactical HR counsel and support. This position plays a key support role in ensuring that HR policies, procedures, tactics and methods in support of Element’s overall HR strategy are communicated and implemented properly and consistently throughout the assigned organization and at all stages of the employee life cycle. 


This position also provides broad support and guidance related to candidate sourcing, proactive recruiting, and review, as well as new employee onboarding/orientation. Element’s Life Sciences group supports developers and manufacturers in the antimicrobial, food and nutraceutical, medical device, and pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. We provide personalized testing solutions and regulatory consulting support to validate the safety and efficacy of our clients’ products at every stage of development, production and market release.


  • Conduct and/or participate in interviews/screening and selection
  • Implement and oversee employee onboarding/orientation process throughout all life sciences labs
  • Work to ensure that new employees are receiving the attention they need and transitioning into Element efficiently and effectively
  • Ensures that appropriate initial training is conducted in a timely manner 
  • Partner with leadership on Performance Management
  • Counsels supervisors and other leaders on resolution of employee performance issues, as well as behavior problems and discipline issues. Provides assistance in the development and preparation of Performance Improvement and Performance Development Plans consistent with the company’s intentions
  • Investigate employee complaints and forms views and opinions on proper outcomes
  • Partner with talent acquisition to understand hiring needs, and help hiring managers to develop strategic job descriptions
  • Work to ensure facility-level compliance with applicable federal and state employee-related regulations.  Includes OSHA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, etc.
  • Understand reasons for employee turnover and support and lead efforts to decrease turnover ratios

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years’ hands-on experience in an HR professional/generalist/manager role
  • PHR/SPHR designation would be advantageous but not required
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local Human Resources-related regulations
  • Excellent understanding of labor law is required. The ability to take labor law knowledge and translate to work place situations
  • Ability to partner closely with the executives, managers and front-line supervisors
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings, including facility all-hands meetings
  • Willingness to travel as needed to various facilities
