Certification Engineer

Element has an opportunity for a Certification Engineer to join our growing team. 


  • Review and certify applications for radio technology for the FCC and ISED Canada
  • Provide UKCA Approved Body assessment for radio technology for UK
  • Provide RED Notified Body assessment for radio technology for Europe
  • Support labs with respect to any questions related to certifications
  • Support customers with respect to questions related to certifications
  • Attend/participate in TCB/FCC workshop (twice a year)
  • Maintain detailed knowledge and complete on-going training in the topics of radio law, specifications, and methods for the associated economies
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the ISO 17065 quality system and support audits
  • Maintain a working knowledge of associated test lab methods and tools for radio testing
  • Provide support for the continuous integration of new releases of standards, methods and guidance documents to the test lab
  • Provide guidance to test labs as new KDB’s are released about content and requirements

Skills / Qualifications


  • Minimum of 2 - 6 years working in Regulatory Compliance with specific in-depth experience in EMC Testing & Certification of Wireless Device Technologies
  • Experience with wireless capabilities (i.e. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, etc.)
  • Knowledge in the radio test standards for North America, Europe, Japan, and South Korea
  • Knowledge of SAR and RF Exposure requirements desired
  • Knowledge of UKCA requirements desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field and/or Product Certification experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Solid working knowledge of personal computers encompassing hardware and software applications (e.g. proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work flexible work hours to accommodate customer and lab testing requirements
  • Ability to manage time when dealing with multiple projects with varying deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
  • Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements
  • Ability to interface with peers and clients
