Analytical Lab Technician

Job Locations US-CA-Santa Fe Springs


Element has an opportunity for a Analytical Lab Tech to join our growing team.  In this role you will safely perform preparations of various materials for analysis by ICPMS ( (Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) or ICP (Inductively coupled plasma). Documentation of all processes is required along with strictly following established SOP's (Standard Operation Procedures), Client methods, or pharmacopeia methods. Work is to be performed in accordance with established QA (Quality Assurance) procedures and in full compliance with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice)



  • Safely operate and maintain our microwaves, hot-blocks, balances, and any other equipment required to perform your duties
  • Read and understand all SDS's (safety data sheet) before starting any work
  • Make sure all data is complete, legible, defensible, filed properly, and all signatures are recorded
  • Follow all pertinent SOP's (Standard Operating Practice), QC (Quality Control) requirements, and QA (Quality Assurance) manual at all times
  • Determine if problems exist concerning sample prep, compliance with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice), or Client requests
  • Immediately notify appropriate personnel to determine how to proceed with the project, minimizing lost time
  • Open NCR (Non-Conformist Report) if required
  • Assist Group Leader and IT (Information Technology) on any updates or revisions to needed software

Skills / Qualifications

  • To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

  • Some College in a science related field or equivalent laboratory experience
  • Some experience in sample prep preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to perform calculations such as RPD, dilutions, mixed standards, etc
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
