Overview

Element has an opportunity for a temporary Shipping and Receiving Technician in our Daleville, IN laboratory. The primary function of the Shipping & Receiving Technician is to safely receive materials from customers and prepare them for processing. In addition, the Logistics Coordinator will package and ship completed orders in a timely manner and maintain retention of stored materials.

 

Responsibilities

  • Open boxes from FedEx, UPS, and other couriers, including freight deliveries using a forklift
  • Check paperwork that was sent in with sample to make sure sample identification and paperwork correspond correctly and then place on the appropriate value stream receiving cart
  • Carefully package all shipments to prevent damage and/or sample loss during shipping
    Ship all sub-contract samples provided. Ensure a P.O. and P.O. Attachment is included in the package
  • Prepare freight shipments and schedule for pick-up
  • Pick-up sample envelopes from each value stream each day
  • Properly shelf the sample envelopes and remnants in the correct shelves
  • Clear a shelf each day and dispose, return, or store the test samples and remnants as required
  • Empty the 6 month and 1 year storage tubs each month

Skills / Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events/projects in the community, with customers and within the company
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
