Level II NDT Technician

Job Locations US-MN-St. Paul


Element has an opportunity for a Level II NDT Technician. The primary function of the NDT Technician is to perform equipment verifications and conduct testing in accordance with procedures approved by the NDT Level III. Interprets, evaluates and documents test results and supervises work performed by Trainees and Level I Technicians.



  • Conducts a variety of tests using established methods
  • Tasks are performed both in the laboratory and off site
  • Prepares test specimens, sets up and adjusts test equipment and records test data
  • Analyzes and interprets test data
  • Maintains related test equipment, tools, and machinery in good working condition
  • Other duties as assigned\Extended hours, multiple shift hours when needed for project demands
  • Extended travel as needed for project demands.
  • Occasionally supervise Trainees and Level I Technicians

Skills / Qualifications

  • Two years of technical/vocational training in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level II Qualification and or Certification in MT, PT, UT and RT with Gamma and Computed radiography experience preferred
  • ASNT/ACCP Level II UT Certification
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics, algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must have valid Driver’s License, or ability to obtain prior to beginning employment
  • Certification in MT, PT, UT and RT with Gamma and Computed radiography experience preferred
    40-hours radiation safety training
  • IRRSP or State card for industrial radiography\Experience in interpreting testing procedures and requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel)
  • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events/projects in the community, with customers and within the company
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs.
  • Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect

NOTE:  This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services.  U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
