Element has an opportunity for Finance Director (FD) in our Connected Technologies business. The Finance Director will be a key member of the Finance team with responsibility for multiple laboratories. The successful candidate will be a member of the Business Unit management team and will be supported by a strong finance team.

The primary responsibility of the role will be the ownership and accountability for the management and financial reporting of the laboratories within the Business Unit, being a trusted partner for the Business Unit Vice President and ensuring the Business Unit’s strategic and commercial goals are successfully delivered. The FD must be a true business leader to the operational and commercial teams, providing timely and accurate reporting as well as insightful financial analysis to help drive growth across the Business Unit.  

This position will require effective leadership traits and exceptional managerial skills, while embracing a hardworking culture of continuous improvement, ensuring progress toward the attainment of ambitious company goals as well as understanding, assimilating and analyzing complex information.  This will also require an ability to operate across multiple locations and geographies. The FD will also ensure compliance with company policies and procedures taking joint responsibility with operations for safeguarding company’s assets. 

• Ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line in statutory regulations and legislation (including relevant GAAP)
• Ensure the integrity of the balance sheet by carrying out regular reviews
• Monitor, and manage adherence to policies and procedures and manage any outsourced functions (including Element’s Shared Service Centers)
• Actively manage working capital to drive improvement and ensure the Business Unit meets and exceeds working capital targets
• Identify control weaknesses and implement appropriate measures to remedy.  Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk
• Develop processes to support growth and expansion
• Collaborate with the Regional and Element Group teams to ensure efficiency in all work streams and to help the team drive continuous innovation and improvement in all current and future processes
• Lead the forecasting, budgeting and long-range planning processes within the Business Unit by providing high quality and insightful analysis that demonstrates financial leadership, best practice and drives strong financial performance
• Manage actual versus budget, and prior year trending, analysis for the Business Unit on a monthly basis. Provide a challenge to operational teams to drive cost base improvements where needed
• Serve as trusted business partner, proactively providing advise and decision support on business strategy, investment options, commercial decisions and overall financial and operational optimization opportunities throughout the Business Unit
• Provide proactive analysis and commentary on business performance that demonstrates a strong understanding of industry and market factors - summarize key conclusions and recommend opportunities for improvement
• Provide forward thinking analysis to identify growth opportunities and where we should invest in both capital spend and people to enable growth
• Closely partner with Business Unit leadership team to provide support for M&A and integration activities
• Provide guidance, direction and developmental opportunities for the Business Unit finance team to allow talents to be identified and promoted
• Ensure Business Unit finance team works as a cohesive part of the group, particularly with the Regional, SSC and Group functions
• Manage, motivate and develope a team of finance professionals in various locations

• CPA qualification required.  Alternative qualifications may be considered (e.g.: ACA, CIMA, CA) depending on experience
• Minimum two (2) years accounting and audit experience gained in public practice
• Demonstarted ability to lead a team to generate successful outcomes
• Experience of budgeting / forecasting would be advantageous
• Proficient Microsoft Excel modelling skills and PowerPoint
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamically changing environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work and interact with all levels of personnel in the company
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a continuously evolving environment
• Some local and international travel will be required
• Systems implementation would also be advantageous
• Experience in use of Adaptive Insights, Oracle HFM, Microsoft Dynamics AX or Microsoft Navison experience would be a plus but not essential – full training will be provided
• International group and Private Equity experience would be advantageous
