Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision.  The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conducts environmental simulation tests such as Temperature/Humidity, Thermal Shock, Salt Spray, Shock, Vibration, HALT, IP and NEMA Spray, Drop, Compression, Cargo Bounce, Accelerated Weathering, Acceleration, Altitude, High Vacuum, Overpressure/Decompression
  • Prepares test data according to referenced specifications for submittal to Quality Department
  • Performs preventive maintenance on test and support equipment
  • Maintains laboratory in a presentable and safe condition
  • Adheres to and maintains safety initiatives and policies
  • Professional interacts with customer when testing is witnessed
  • Orders supplies and prepares purchase orders as needed
  • As needed, drives to pick up supplies

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • one (1) to two (2) of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural and quality manuals
  • Ability to recognize simple formatting, writing, or spelling errors when assembling data reports
  • Ability to speak effectively and communicate the customer’s needs whether on site or on the phone
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must have valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record under Element’s policy, or ability to obtain prior to beginning employment
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  •  Self-disciplined and self-motivated
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs
  • Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
