Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Finance Controller. This role is a key member of the Finance team and will be responsible for multiple laboratories across a Division.  The role will be supported by a strong accounting team and shared service center.  A successful candidate will be a key member of the Divisional Leadership Team and partner closely with the Divisional Director.

 

The primarily responsibility of the role will be the ownership and accountability for the management and financial reporting of the laboratories within the division.  This position will require effective leadership traits and managerial skills, while embracing a hardworking culture of continuous improvement, ensuring progress toward the attainment of ambitions company goals.  The Finance Controller will also ensure compliance with company policies and procedures taking joint responsibility with operations for the safeguarding of the division’s assets.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the company’s financials are maintained and are incompliance where appropriate with US GAAP and IFRS, including monthly account analysis and report in line with US and Group month end timetable
  • Lead and execute the month end close process activities, including but not limited to: Revenue recognition adherence, WIP Analysis, intercompany accounting, Monthly / Quarterly reporting packs, P&L review, variance analysis, trend reporting, KPI tracking, ad hoc reporting as requested
  • Provide financial support to operations to help improve financial performance and achieve revenue, EBITDA, and targets
  • Maintain and improve standardized internal controls across each of the labs
  • Provide support in the preparation of forecasting and budgeting activities, including but not limited to: Customer and department revenue build-up, expense tracking, balance sheet and cashflow build-up, and capital spend forecasting
  • Monitor and forecast cash needs on an ongoing basis, including a monthly thirteen week cashflow forecast
  • Manage staff performance, development, and engagement

Skills / Qualifications

  • 7 years of proven experience in all aspects of accounting in a service oriented environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum three years general ledger accounting experience
  • Strong general ledger, internal and external reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and basic income tax knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts to provide needed financial analysis and accounting requirements
  • Strong technical accounting background and Excel and Word skills
  • Team player with ability to work independently
  • Experience with Microsoft AX and Microsoft FX a plus
