Overview

PCTEST Engineering Laboratory, proud to be a part of Element, has an opportunity for a Technical Director - 5G Testing to join our rapidly expanding team.

 

You will work with new and assigned customer accounts targeting growth for PCTEST specifically within the areas of 5G OTA, 5G RF, and Operator + Industry Conformance test and certifications.  Responsible for advising PCTEST Management on new business offerings, equipment recommendations to support new operator + industry test requirements, and validation requirements to maintain a competitive edge in wireless RF testing.  Has direct oversight of the OTA technical laboratory functions, including advancing the technical capability of laboratory equipment and personnel in 5G OTA FR1 and FR2 testing.  Technical Director works with management to ensure operator and industry accreditations are met.  Maintains knowledge for testing and evaluation of wireless devices for compliance with industry and carrier standards; continued evaluation, selection, and application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform conventional projects as well as future technologies applying advanced knowledge of principles and practices.

 

Responsibilities

  • Position PCTEST to excel in 5G OTA and 5GAA testing authorized by major U.S. and International Operators and manufacturers
  • Assist in the training, evaluation, and improvement to enhance the skill level of PCTEST 5G technical personnel
  • Retain, or assign staff, roles within Industry Committees: CTIA CWG, OTA, PTCRB, GCF, WiFi Alliance, and the like. Contribute, or assign staff, roles in various meetings, conferences, working groups, operator, OTA and 3GPP activities, where applicable
  • Gathering insights to updates, changes, and new requirements for wireless device testing and share within. Represents the organization in appropriate committees and forums involving specific product categories
  • Assist in positioning PCTEST in 5GAA market by contributing to our organizational growth, bridging our planned expansion into this combined automotive, technology and telecommunication sector
  • Assist business development team by providing technical support of new business and account penetration strategies
  • Meet with technical and senior management to maximize the coordination of 5G objectives, strategies and associated policies and practices
  • Provide external leadership through presentations and technical articles and where applicable attend meetings with key customers and vendors
  • Continuously evaluate competitive activity, lab positioning, market entry, timing, and needed accreditation for maximum lab offerings
  • Maintain an awareness of the customers’ business environment and changing needs in order to support customer’s effectively and in a timely manner
  • Assist in the hiring of 5G personnel in California and Maryland locations
  • Perform special projects as assigned by PCTEST Executive Management

Skills / Qualifications

  • MSEE, PE, BSEE in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, RF Engineering  
  • Proven skills and experience in wireless RF technology, antenna performance, within the wireless/RF product certification industry
  • 10+ years in a wireless design, development, technical role for a technical services company
