  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Construction Materials Engineering Technician.  In this role you will work with Project Managers and Staff Engineers to schedule and perform the daily laboratory tests for the field staff.  This includes planning and performing non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, and selecting appropriate guidelines to resolve problems that arise and are not fully covered by precedents. 

     

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure compliance with safety rules, company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws
    • Undertake research and testing procedures to ensure they meet current needs.
    • Provide technical advice about the suitability of materials
    • Skills to communicate and monitor and ensure progress toward attainment of location and company goals
    • Perform soil, bituminous and concrete testing each day as specified and on schedule. These duties will be required in the lab & field

    Skills / Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
    • Three years of direct or related experience desired
    • Must have valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain prior to beginning employment
    • ACI Laboratory Certification or attain within 2-3 months of employment. 
    • Mn/DOT soil and bituminous certifications or attain within 2-3 months of employment
    • Travel is required. Some will be out of town

     

    This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the employer obtaining the necessary export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.
