  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Process Witness Inspector to join our rapidly expanding team. Acting as onsite Element Cleveland representative to witness tests performed by customer personnel at customer site in Cleveland, OH.  Ensure witnesses tests are performed accurately and documented in accordance with USDOT requirements per 49 C.F.R. §107.803 and §178.35 and any other applicable regulations, laws, standards, procedures and specifications.



    • Effectively manages time and practices accountability for the witness services to be performed
    • Ensures timely and accurate witness services of tests; remains available to witness testing as needed
    • Ability to interpret technical requirements in test procedures/requirements and successfully satisfy and meet customer specifications
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
    • Able to assist in preparation of technical reports in accordance with an A2LA 17025, QS-9001 Quality Assurance Program
    • Use of instrumentation for measuring and recording in accordance with Element and customer procedures
    • Maintain qualifications to perform these operations, to include but not be limited to CTC HAZMAT training, a USDOT requirement
    • Produce timely and accurate witness service documents, including reports and schedules. Requires use of computers, Microsoft Office and other various software systems, and typing
    • Ensure that no deficient product is certified and/or released as conforming to the requirements, minimizing risk to the end-user, customer and the service provider
    • Communicate any issues (safety, quality, equipment, etc.) to management
    • Perform all work using the job safety requirements and proper PPE

    • Bachelor of Science required with an emphasis in Engineering from an accredited four-year institution
    • Quality/Engineering/Science degree preferred
    • 2 years of experience working with accredited quality management systems e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 17025, ISO 17043
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel)
    • Ability to work weekends and/or off shifts if necessary
    • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events/projects in the community, with customers and within the company
    • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
    • Well developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs
    • Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
    • Exceptional ability to work on a team, and resolve conflict when needed 
    • Ability to interface with clients and determine their requirements
    • Organization, critical thinking and problem solving skills, decision making, and adaptability
    • Work independently and effectively with little supervision
    • Familiarity with statistical analysis and root cause analysis
    • Ability to lead a corrective action team comprised of managers and technicians
    • Ability to communicate written/orally all requirements associated with the Quality Management System
    • Ability to interpret basic instructions/ drawings/ requirements, on an as needed basis
    • Experience in client (internal/external) relations, including excellent interpersonal communication skills

    This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required.
