  • Shipping & Receiving Maintenance Technician

  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Shipping and Receiving Maintenance Technician to join our growing team.  In this role youi will perform shipping and receiving, responsibilities as well as back up facilities maintenance on day to day needs for our Warren, Center Line and Plymouth locations.


    • Safely load and unload shipments from delivery trucks, check in samples, equipment and supplies, and distribute to requisite locations within the facility utilizing forklift, hand truck, and push carts
    • Drive company vehicle in between location as needed to drop off / pick up items
    • Maintain 5S (sort, set, shine, standardize, sustain) in shipping / warehouse area as well as supporting the chamber areas
    • Maintain compliance to  Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations as they pertain to shipping
    • Work as general maintenance technician supporting maintenance activities within the lab and at multiple locations
    • Complete other tasks and duties as assigned

    Skills / Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • 2 years plus of shipping, receiving, maintenance experience is preferred but not required
    • 1 year experience operating a forklift
    • Must have valid chauffeur driver’s license, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
    • Must be able to pass (DOT) physical in order to operate DOT box truck (requires schauffer’s license)
    • Must be able to safety operate a powered industrial truck (i.e., forklift)
    • Must obtain RCRA, DOT, shipping 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and training within first 6 months of employment
    • Ability to work overtime as needed and occasional weekends

    This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the employer obtaining the necessary export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.
