  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Machinist whose primary responsibility is to prepare samples for testing, predominantly in the metallurgy department.

    Responsibilities

    • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining
    • Prepare test metallic and non-metallic specimens as per drawings provided within the international test standards
    • Work with machines for CNC & Manual lathes, milling drilling & grinding
    • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
    • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
    • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
    • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications
    • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
    • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
    • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
    • Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance

    Skills / Qualifications

    • High school educated
    • Preparing test metallic and non-metallic specimens as per drawings provided within the international test standards
    • Precision machining of the specialized jigs and fixtures for test purposes
    • Working experience on machines for lathes, milling drilling & grinding
    • Adequate knowledge in the field manufacturing of all components any valves such as ball valve, gate valves, butterfly valves, control valves, NRV, SSV, HCV & PSV etc.

    This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services.  U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the employer obtaining the necessary export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, the U.S. Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.
