  • Overview

    Element has an opportunity for a Sectionist / EDM operator to safely section incoming material, read and interpret work order instructions and associated drawings to determine size, orientation and location of blanks for machining. 

    Responsibilities

    • Safely operate and maintain EDM (Electrical Discharge Machine) machine as well as abrasive cutting saw
    • Perform daily / monthly / quarterly preventive maintenance
    • Understand the material to be cut and perform the cutting at speeds and feeds appropriate to the material
    • Perform cutting in a manner to maximize remnants
    • Be able to determine when cutoff wheels for the abrasive saw and the copper tubing for the EDM need replacement and perform the replacement
    • Identify all blanks and remnants; put the blanks in appropriate bags without losing ID. Box the remnants with proper ID
    • Complete the necessary paperwork and computer entries
    • Effectively prioritize work load and use of available resources within time constraints
    • Observe proper safety procedures in a machine shop environment
    • Maintain 5s in your work area

    Skills / Qualifications

    • To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
    • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required

    • Completion of a two-year technical program in EDM operation is preferred. Ability to work from prints and hand drawn sketches
    • Experience in using the machinist handbook to find required information
