Element Hartford is seeking an Etch Waste Treatment & Environmental Technician to support the safe and compliant operation of the facility's chemical waste treatment and waste management programs.

The primary responsibility of this position is to monitor the waste streams generated by the chemical processing operation and ensure the waste treatment system is functioning properly and operating within established parameters. The technician will monitor treatment chemicals, system performance, waste characteristics, and treatment processes while identifying and escalating conditions that could affect treatment performance or environmental compliance.

The position will also be responsible for waste accumulation and management activities, including maintaining waste identification and documentation, coordinating waste shipments and external service providers, and supporting the facility's overall waste management program.

The successful candidate will receive onsite training on Element Hartford's waste treatment systems, processes, procedures, and applicable requirements.

Salary: $22.50- $30/hr DOE 

Waste Treatment System Operations

• Monitor waste streams generated by the facility's chemical processing operations.
• Monitor treatment system operation and verify the system is functioning as intended.
• Monitor treatment chemicals and maintain appropriate treatment parameters.
• Perform routine checks of tanks, pumps, filters, treatment equipment, instrumentation, and associated systems.
• Monitor treatment processes and identify abnormal conditions or changes in system performance.
• Perform routine sampling, testing, and documentation as required by established procedures.
• Make routine adjustments to treatment chemicals and process parameters within established procedures and authorization.
• Identify potential treatment issues before they result in process interruptions or compliance concerns.
• Communicate equipment malfunctions, abnormal readings, chemical concerns, or treatment issues to management.
• Maintain accurate treatment logs and records.
• Perform routine housekeeping and maintain the treatment area in a safe and organized condition.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work safely around industrial chemicals and hazardous waste.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to follow written procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to recognize abnormal operating conditions and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Willingness to complete required environmental, chemical handling, and safety training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in wastewater treatment, chemical processing, environmental services, hazardous waste management, or manufacturing.
• Experience working with chemical treatment systems.
• Experience handling or managing hazardous waste.
• Familiarity with environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
• Experience working with the Connecticut DEEP or similar regulatory agencies.
• Experience coordinating with waste disposal companies or environmental consultants.
• Experience with environmental recordkeeping or regulatory reporting.
