Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Business Development Manager responsible for driving growth across Minnesota, Iowa, and surrounding markets. Based out of our St. Paul laboratory, this role will focus on expanding business within industrial manufacturing, aerospace, transportation, construction, building products, and advanced materials sectors by promoting Element's comprehensive testing, inspection, and engineering services.

 

Element St. Paul is a full-service materials and product testing laboratory offering mechanical and metallurgical testing, failure analysis, chemistry services, Nadcap-certified nondestructive testing (NDT), weld inspection, advanced materials testing, product validation, environmental simulation, shock and vibration testing, corrosion, HALT/HASS, finite element analysis, and geotechnical and construction materials testing services.

 

The successful candidate will develop and grow strategic customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, and expand existing accounts by partnering with engineering, quality, manufacturing, procurement, and project management stakeholders. This individual will work closely with laboratory and technical teams to deliver customized testing and engineering solutions that support product development, qualification, certification, failure investigations, and construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute territory growth strategies focused on new business acquisition and expansion of existing accounts.
  • Build strong relationships with engineering, quality, manufacturing, procurement, and executive decision-makers.
  • Promote the full breadth of Element St. Paul's materials testing, NDT, failure analysis, product validation, environmental testing, and construction materials testing capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities early in the customer lifecycle to maximize share of wallet across Element's network of laboratories.
  • Lead consultative sales efforts including qualification, needs assessment, proposal development, presentations, negotiation, and closing.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, opportunity, and customer activity records within CRM.
  • Represent Element at industry events, trade associations, customer facilities, and technical conferences.
  • Collaborate with technical experts and regional sales teams to deliver comprehensive solutions and achieve revenue objectives.

Skills / Qualifications

  • 5+ years of business development, technical sales, or account management experience within testing, inspection and certification (TIC), engineering services, manufacturing, construction materials testing, product validation, or related technical industries.
  • Experience selling complex technical services to engineering, quality, manufacturing, or construction stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of materials testing, metallurgy, NDT, failure analysis, product qualification, reliability testing, building products, or geotechnical services is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to generate new business, grow strategic accounts, and manage complex sales cycles.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and consultative selling skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to travel 50%-75% throughout the territory to support customers and business development activities.
