Sales Manager – Pharmaceutical Testing (West Coast)

 

Element is seeking a strategic Sales Manager to lead Pharmaceutical Testing commercial efforts across the West Coast. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding client relationships, and delivering EBITDA performance aligned with business goals.

 

You will lead and develop a high-performing sales team, guiding them through the full sales cycle while maintaining strong pipeline management and CRM discipline. Partnering closely with Operations and technical teams, you’ll ensure delivery of scientifically rigorous, compliant solutions that maximize client value.

 

As a key representative of Element’s Life Sciences capabilities—including pharmaceutical development, biologics, and advanced analytical chemistry—you will also engage with clients and industry groups to promote our services.

 

This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on leader who can balance strategy and execution while building teams and driving sustainable growth.

 

$150k-$210k DOE + Sales Compensation Incentives

Responsibilities

  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Marketing leaders to drive a cohesive, high-impact sales strategy aligned to revenue goals.

  • Lead and execute laboratory sales plans focused on end-to-end pharmaceutical services—from early development through commercial supply—across small molecules, biologics, and specialty APIs.

  • Coach and develop Sales Executives through the full sales cycle while reinforcing strong CRM discipline, accurate forecasting, and rigorous pipeline management.

  • Conduct regular account and quotation reviews with a focus on complex, high-value opportunities, including biologics and advanced analytical services.

  • Collaborate across regions and business lines to deliver integrated, cross-disciplinary solutions, while representing Element at industry events to elevate market presence.

  • Leverage market insights, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence to identify growth opportunities and drive sustained commercial success.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Qualifications & Experience

    • 10–15 years of sales experience, including 5+ years in sales leadership (regional or country-level preferred)
    • 3–5 years managing outside sales teams and 5–10 years in technical sales
    • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
    • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and biotech markets, including regulatory requirements
    • Proven ability to drive results in complex, fast-paced environments with a strong quality focus

    Skills & Capabilities

    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels
    • Skilled in coaching teams through full sales cycles, developing proposals, and closing complex deals
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including interpreting technical requirements, contracts, and customer specifications
    • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office (including Dynamics/CRM tools)
    • Highly organized, self-motivated, and action-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
    • Comfortable representing the company with clients, at events, and across internal teams

    Additional Requirements

    • Ability to travel up to 75% (including overnight as needed)
    • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
