Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Accounting Manager to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to lead a small team while driving accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement across core accounting processes.

 

As a key member of the finance team, you will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, mentor staff, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP. This is a great opportunity to leverage both industry and public accounting experience within a global Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) organization.

 

This is a hybrid position based in Blue Ash, OH (3 days onsite / 2 remote)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a small team of accountants, providing coaching, guidance, and performance management
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Manage complex accounting areas including payroll, fixed assets, and lease accounting (ASC 842)
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and variances are investigated and resolved
  • Provide detailed analysis and explanations of financial results to leadership
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, HR, and Operations to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
  • Coordinate and support external audits, including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to audit inquiries
  • Perform research on technical accounting matters and recommend appropriate treatment in accordance with GAAP
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization across accounting workflows
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
  • CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm preferred)
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring a team (formal or informal)
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience with month-end close, audit support, and technical accounting research
  • Hands-on experience with payroll, fixed assets, and lease accounting
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a hands-on environment
