Overview

Element has an opportunity for an Environmental Test Engineer to support and lead testing programs for components and systems developed for key account projects in our Newark, CA laboratory.

 

In this role, you will design and execute test plans to evaluate product performance, durability, and reliability under a range of thermal, vibration, humidity, and environmental conditions, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards. You will also be responsible for analyzing data, preparing detailed technical reports, and collaborating closely with clients and internal teams to deliver high-quality, actionable results. 

 

Element Newark offers a range of services, including shock and vibration testing, thermal stress, and extreme environment simulation. Together with our sister lab, Element Fremont, we support virtually every industry in the Bay Area, including aerospace, defense, telecom, medical, automotive, industrial, and more.

 

This position will be based at the Newark, CA location.

Salary: $79-104K/year

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute environmental test plans to assess product performance, durability, and reliability under thermal, vibration, humidity, and combined environmental conditions
  • Develop and integrate electrical circuits and instrumentation systems to support environmental testing and data acquisition
  • Automate test stands and control systems to improve testing efficiency, repeatability, and accuracy
  • Analyze test data and prepare detailed test workbooks for the technical reports, collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine testing methods and ensure compliance with customer and industry standards 
  • Set components within test fixtures in environmental simulation chambers in preparation for testing
  • Troubleshooting test set ups

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in testing, validation, or a related engineering discipline
  • Technology degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in testing, validation, or a related engineering discipline 
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment and data analysis tools; experience with test automation preferred
  • Knowledge of environmental and performance testing methods for electrical and mechanical systems
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
  • Experience in environmental or dynamics or testing related to Element a plus
  • Must be able to operate hand/power tools
