Overview

Element Materials Technology – Hartford is seeking an experienced Immersion Ultrasonic Testing (IUT) Level III to support and lead technical activities within our immersion ultrasonic department. This role serves as a technical authority, providing expertise in scan plan development, system programming, validation, and customer/OEM interface while ensuring compliance with NAS 410 and customer specifications.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly to support operational and customer needs.

 

Salary: $100,000 - $150,000/yr DOE 

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise to the immersion ultrasonic department
  • Develop and review scan plans, inspection techniques, and inspection strategies
  • Program and support immersion ultrasonic systems, including IRT and Matec platforms
  • Support calibrations, system verifications, and equipment performance checks
  • Lead and support new part validation and first-article inspection activities
  • Develop, review, revise, and approve inspection procedures in accordance with NAS 410, customer, and Element requirements
  • Train, mentor, and technically support Level I and Level II personnel
  • Support customer and OEM submissions through portals or direct technical communication
  • Participate in audits, technical reviews, and customer meetings as required
  • Ensure compliance with Element quality systems, customer specifications, and industry standards

Skills / Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • NAS 410 Level III certification in Immersion Ultrasonic Testing (IUT)
  • Extensive experience in immersion ultrasonic inspection methods and aerospace components
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to develop, revise, and maintain procedures and technical documentation
  • Effective communication skills for direct interaction with customers, OEMs, and internal teams
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required to support operations and customer schedules
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with IRT and Matec immersion scan systems

Experience supporting aerospace OEMs including:

  • Pratt & Whitney
  • General Electric
  • Rolls-Royce
  • Prior experience with new part introduction and validation activities
  • Experience with OEM submission portals and direct OEM technical communication
