Overview

Element Hartford is looking for an NDT Technical Engineer who will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing nondestructive testing (NDT) inspection plans to ensure the integrity, reliability, and safety of critical assets and components. This role bridges engineering, inspection, and operations by creating detailed and code-compliant inspection strategies tailored to equipment, materials, and operating conditions.

 

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000/yr DOE 

 

Responsibilities

• Maintain NDT technical inspection plan tracker for Element Hartford. Managing multiple projects, timelines, resources and deliverables.
• Develop detailed technical inspection plans based on engineering specs, codes and industry standards
• Collaborate with NDT lvl 2 and 3's to understand equipment design, service conditions and critical areas for inspection.
• Revise and edit existing NDT technical plans for accuracy and ongoing industry changes
• Work with NDT Technical director to flow down / implement best in class technical planning documentation as it relates to efficiency and accuracy.

Skills / Qualifications

• Education and experience in IUT testing. Certification to NAS 410 or SNT-TC-1A
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, fractions and proportions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, data and details furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Proficient in technical writing with the ability to create clear and accurate work instructions
• Read and understand technical specifications
• Interpret engineering drawings of manufactured components
• Software proficiency (Microsoft word, Excel, Power Point)
• Utilize CAD software at an entry level
• Possess a high attention to detail in order to mitigate rework and quality errors
• Strong communication skills (explaining plans to inspectors, engineers, operations and technical stakeholders)
• A basic understanding of NDT inspection specifically UT is a plus
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand on feet for long periods of time.
