Overview

Element has an opening for a Principal Chemist/Senior Scientist position at our extractables and leachables (E&L) testing Center of Excellence in Bend, OR. This position will work in a cGMP-regulated environment under the direction of the Chromatography Manager in office settings. The Principal Chemist/Senior Scientist will work with a team completing E&L project work using internal methods, protocols and SOPs according to customer specific requirements. This position requires working in a collaborative manner with other team members to accomplish organizational goals, providing ideas to improve efficiency and actively contributing to positive co-worker/customer relationships through efficient interaction on current projects. The Principal Chemist/Senior Scientist will also contribute to team continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely performs basic through advanced GC data analysis and reviews.
  • Performs EI spectral interpretation and GC-MS/FID and HS-GC-MS/FID ID reviews.
  • Performs structural elucidation of unknown compounds through spectral interpretation of high resolution accurate mass (HRAM) data.
  • Verifies deliverables are performed, documented, and completed according to customer expectations and quality system requirements.
  • Provides technical leadership, promotes growth and development within the GC Team and greater Element E&L organization.
  • Conducts investigations for failures/deviations/out of spec results.
  • Drafts new procedures and revises existing procedures.
  • Serves as a specialist on complex technical and business matters in partnership with operations.
  • Actively promotes continuous improvement and E&L continuing education.

Skills / Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry or related field.
  • 6+ years experience in an analytical setting.
  • Prior work experience in an analytical technique (GC-MS/LC-MS) required. cGMP experience preferred.
