Overview

We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented NDT Etch Technician Trainee or Level I to join our team on 2nd shift. This position is responsible for supporting non-destructive testing operations through the preparation, etching, and inspection of metal components, primarily in aerospace and industrial sectors. The role is ideal for individuals looking to build a technical career in NDT with hands-on training and certification opportunities.

 

Salary: $21-$23/hr

2nd Shift - 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. + $1 shift diff

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform surface preparation and etching of metallic components as part of the inspection process.

  • Follow detailed procedures and work instructions for chemical etching, handling, and cleaning of parts.

  • Assist in the setup and execution of non-destructive testing processes under supervision, including visual inspections.

  • Accurately label and document parts, test data, and findings in compliance with internal and customer specifications.

  • Support process control through careful monitoring of chemical baths, equipment, and material flow.

  • Handle and move parts using proper equipment and safety practices.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocols.

  • Participate in training and certification activities required for Level I NDT qualification (within 6 months of hire, attain level I)

Skills / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Ability to work safely with chemicals and follow detailed procedures.

  • Basic math and mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Willingness to work 2nd shift and occasional overtime during the week and weekends.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a lab or shop floor environment, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, lab coats, and occasionally respirators.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of up to 50 lbs is required.

  • May involve handling parts with sharp edges, heavy tooling, and working around equipment with moving parts.

  • The facility maintains a strong safety culture, with structured procedures and training to ensure compliance with OSHA and internal standards.

  • The role requires comfort working with chemical etching processes and inspection equipment in a production-driven setting.

 

This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), or U.S. Government export authorization is required. Any offer of employment is contingent upon the employer obtaining the necessary export authorization, including, if required, an export license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.
