Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Senior Metallurgical Engineer/Certified Weld Inspector to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Senior Engineer/CWI position performs a variety of routine and non-routine weldment testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under minimal direct supervision.

 

Salary: $75,000 - $110,000 DOE

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and engineering leadership on weldments, within the local laboratory and potentially across the Element enterprise
  • Review and interpret customer requests for weldment testing for a variety of Aerospace manufacturers and Engineering Authorities
  • Project manage requests thru the workflow and provide customer communication
  • Perform weldment testing: visual examination under low magnification, optical microscopy of metallographic samples under high magnification, report writing and approval

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a science, engineering, or testing related field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ pertinent post-degree engineering experience, or advanced academic/professional qualifications
  • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) per AWS D17.1 - Aerospace: 2017 w/ Amendment 2 or ASME BPVC Section IX (2019 Edition), B31.1 (2018) and B31.3 (2018)
