Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Quality Technician to actively support the laboratory’s overall quality functions through maintenance of the calibrations and approved vendors systems, as well as assisting and taking responsibility for general quality-related tasks as designated by the location Quality Assurance Manager.

 

Salary: $28- $32/hr DOE 

 

Responsibilities

• Schedule, review, and aid in completion of internally performed laboratory equipment calibrations
• Produce timely and accurate calibration documents, including reports, review sheets, and schedules
• Requires use of computers, Microsoft Office and other various software systems, and typing
• Write/Update calibration review documents, when applicable
• Ensure that all equipment and standards used for performing calibrations are calibrated/verified prior to use
• Record and maintain calibration and maintenance history of all, calibrated laboratory equipment.
• Contact, schedule, and escort vendors on-site for completion of calibrations. Requires contact with vendors to obtain quotes, issue POs, and select equipment for calibrations
• Requires knowledge of specifications and test methods related to calibrations
• Maintain the location’s approved vendor list
• Requires use of Excel, access to third-party accreditation records, and minimal customer and vendor communications
• Support day-to-day maintenance of the laboratory’s quality system. Includes, but is not limited to, performing audits, filing and storage of quality-critical documents, controlled document revisions and updates, among other general administrative tasks
• Support testing staff in providing on-time delivery to customers; respond to urgent requirements of the test area
• Communicate any issues (safety, product flow, equipment, etc.) to management team members at both the operational and quality levels
• Perform all work using required job safety requirements and proper PPE

Skills / Qualifications

• High school diploma required. Relevant work experience, vocational training, or college courses desired
• Experience in materials testing, machinery, electronics, calibration, metrology, and/or data acquisition is a plus
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, specifications, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of organizational skill with the systems and filing requirements within the laboratory
