Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Testing Technician in the Materials Department. The Test Technician prepares customer specimens for testing and performs testing as directed by customer specifications. Operates testing equipment in Materials Lab and interacts with other team members. Follows established standards, specifications, and instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Operating mechanical Materials Lab Tensile/Compression testing equipment
  • Maintaining accurate and systematic records
  • Performing other duties to fulfil the demands of the laboratory
  • Interpretation of internal and client requirements
  • Performing general duties in accordance with Element's internal procedures, quality as well as Health and Safety system
  • Reports any issues with equipment immediately to management
  • Working under the general direction of the Lab Manager or designee with minimal supervision
  • Maintaining accurate records on work performed, analyze data, and generate a final test report

Skills / Qualifications

  • Two (2) year associate degree in mechanical or electrical field, or equivalent related job experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous course experience in science/chemistry/physics/ a plus
  • Previous material property testing preferred
  • Previous experience in an appropriate Engineering environment a distinct advantage
  • Experience of working within a Mechanical testing environment is advantageous
  • Sound mechanical bias
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret test specifications
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and recording test data
  • Understanding of a recognised Quality Management Systems such as ISO 17025 beneficial
