Overview

Element is looking for a highly motivated Technologist to conduct various building performance tests including the 
setup and analysis of test results to well defined standards and/or standard operating procedures. This position
involves sample preparation, physical testing, scheduling, equipment maintenance / calibration, client interaction
and report writing.

 

 

Responsibilities

• Participates in client correspondence and project coordination
• Coordinates testing of construction products, building envelope assemblies including glazing systems
• Understanding of test requirements as per relevant standards and specifications.
• Involved in sample preparation, test setup, data collection & analysis.
• Write technical reports complete with full specimen description, relevant reference standard/specification, and test results.
• Purchase materials and maintain equipment.
• Maintain equipment calibrations.

Skills / Qualifications

• Completion of a University or College program in mechanical engineering, material science or building construction
• 3+ years of experience in a similar role
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong understanding of engineering concepts
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to focus on multiple projects at the same time
• Computer proficiency (MS Office)
• Experience with AutoCAD is an asset
• Ability to take testing projects from initial set up to completion and ready for report writing
• Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required. May schedule customer visits for test review and customer resolution(s)
• Ability set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under minimal supervision and technical input of a Senior/Principal Test Technician
• Conduct safe material handling per Element guidelines.
• Experience with common construction power tools.
