Overview

Element Materials Technology is a leading global provider of testing, inspection, and certification services for a variety of materials and products.

Our Boucherville laboratory, specializing in Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing, is looking for an EMI Engineer to join our team. This role involves conducting emission and immunity testing, analyzing product electromagnetic performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and conduct EMI/EMC tests in compliance with applicable standards (CISPR, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, FCC, CE, ISO 17025, etc.).
  • Perform emission and immunity analysis on various electronic equipment in controlled environments (anechoic chambers, specialized test setups).
  • Develop test protocols and recommend improvements to ensure compliance with electromagnetic requirements.
  • Operate advanced measurement instruments: spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers (VNA), electromagnetic field probes, high-power amplifiers.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to analyze test results and resolve EMI-related issues.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and provide recommendations to internal and external clients.
  • Ensure compliance with quality procedures and safety standards in the laboratory.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in EMI/EMC testing and understanding of electromagnetic compatibility standards.
  • Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation software (Ansys HFSS, CST Studio, or equivalent) is an asset.
  • Experience with RF and EMI measurement equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken) – required for the Quebec market.
  • Registered member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for an engineering permit in Quebec.
