Element has an opportunity for a Test Technician for our Microsopy Lab in Warren, Ohio. There has never been a more exciting time to be part of an Automotive Electronics Technology company. The Test Technician will be responsible for analyzing failure modes of automotive electrical components (connectors, terminals, splices, fuse centers, etc.). The Test Technician will use various laboratory equipment, including optical and digital microscopes, as well as a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with X-Ray Dispersion Detection.
• Set up and perform failure mode analyses on failed test samples.
• Analyze failure modes of automotive electrical components, including connectors, terminals, and fuse centers.
• Perform failure mode analyses on automotive components returned from field failures, including warranty and prototypes.
• Operate laboratory microscopy equipment and instruments, including optical and digital microscopes, and microscopic beams.
• Acquire knowledge and proficiency in the use of general and specialized laboratory techniques, equipment, and instrumentation.
• Prepare/dissect test samples.
• Prepare test reports and analytical presentations.
• Minimum of a two-year associate degree in engineering discipline and/or equivalent experience (Mechanical, Metallurgy, Materials).
• Understanding of material properties.
• Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions, and solve problems independently.
• Effectively works with others.
• Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Understands the capabilities and application of microscopes.
