Overview

Element Boulder has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager focused on driving sales and business growth within the medical technology and wellness technology sector for our clinical testing laboratory in Boulder, CO.  In this role, you will manage named accounts and pursue sales opportunities clinical trial testing of cutting-edge health monitoring devices like pulse oximeters, blood pressure technology, respiratory rate monitors, and other smart health devices. You will work to meet sales targets by engaging new accounts, re-engaging dormant accounts, and expanding existing client relationships, including within larger technology companies that are venturing into the wellness tech space.

 

Salary Range: $100k - $120k + Sales Compensation incentives. Pay rate will depend on individual experience level.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Maintain Key Relationships: Build and sustain strong professional relationships with decision-makers and influencers in healthcare, wellness, and medical technology sectors, specifically within accounts focused on pulse oximetry, blood pressure monitoring, respiratory health technology, and FDA-regulated medical devices.
  • Sales Expansion: Drive profitable sales growth by acquiring new accounts, re-engaging dormant accounts, and expanding business within existing accounts. Focus on opportunities to introduce and promote advanced smart health technologies, such as pulse oximeters, FDA-regulated blood pressure monitoring systems, and respiratory rate monitoring devices.
  • Target Large Tech Customers: Identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities with larger technology companies entering the wellness tech market. Develop strategies for introducing Element’s clinical testing of both FDA-regulated medical device technologies and other consumer product smart health solutions
  • Market Analysis: Gather and analyze market trends, industry intelligence, and customer needs, particularly in the medical and wellness technology fields. Understand the evolving needs of healthcare providers, wellness-focused consumers, and large tech companies regarding smart health technology, including wearables and remote monitoring devices.
  • Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify new business opportunities early in the sales cycle, particularly within larger tech firms that may benefit from incorporating FDA-regulated medical devices into their portfolio of wellness and healthcare technologies.
  • Maximize Element's market share by tailoring solutions to fit the needs of these high-potential accounts.
  • Deliver Presentations and Close Deals: Lead presentations on the benefits and applications of FDA-regulated medical devices, including pulse oximeters, smart blood pressure monitors, and respiratory health solutions. Negotiate and close sales in collaboration with technical and business development teams to secure long-term relationships with large tech clients.
  • Industry Representation: Serve as a brand ambassador at healthcare technology trade shows, conferences, and professional organization meetings to represent Element’s role in advancing health and wellness monitoring solutions, particularly within the intersection of technology and wellness. Advocate for the company’s services and technological offerings in the FDA-regulated medical device sector.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Prepare regular reports and presentations on sales performance, sector trends, customer feedback, and expansion opportunities. Highlight growth in specific categories of medical technology, such as remote monitoring of vital signs, wearables, and FDA-regulated devices, particularly in the context of larger tech customers.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Utilize CRM tools to track customer interactions, sales opportunities, and follow-ups. Ensure the CRM is up-to-date with accurate contact details, sales progress, and key opportunities in the pipeline, especially for health monitoring technology products and FDA-regulated devices.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other sales teams, technical support, and customer service to ensure customer needs are met and that smart health technology solutions are effectively implemented and supported within large tech companies, as well as traditional healthcare clients.
  • Customer Needs Identification: Deeply understand customer requirements, including needs for real-time monitoring of pulse oximetry, blood pressure, respiratory rates, and other smart health technologies, to provide tailored solutions. Focus on identifying and capitalizing on opportunities within larger tech companies expanding into the wellness space, offering solutions that integrate seamlessly into their ecosystem.
  • Training and Development: Continuously build and maintain knowledge of Element’s service offerings , identify opportunities for clinical trial growth based on customer needs, and participate in ongoing training and coaching to stay current with industry changes and regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all Element policies, including but not limited to trade compliance, health data privacy regulations, terms and conditions, and the company’s code of conduct. Stay informed about FDA regulations and other healthcare-specific guidelines that impact the sale and distribution of medical devices and health technology solutions.
    Legal and Safety Adherence: Follow all laws and industry standards related to the sale and distribution of FDA-regulated medical devices, ensuring safety, environmental, and corporate governance compliance.

Skills / Qualifications

  • 10 years of sales experience in the CRO or medical related space – with some clinical, GCP, or testing experience
  • Bachelors of Science in business or clinical field, other four year degrees will be considered
  • Experience with handling and understanding large tech and medical device customers is critical
  • Experience in interpreting testing procedures and study protocols is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Dynamics AX and CRM, Word, Excel)
  • Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at a broad range of events / projects in the community, with customers and within the company
  • Ability to remain calm when faced with mounting pressure related to deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to meet a variety of communication needs
  • Good interpersonal skills that foster open upward and downward communication built on mutual respect
  • Ability to interface with clients, win new work and determine their requirements; helps develops proposals including cost estimates, work plan and terms and conditions
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
