Overview

Element has an upcoming opportunity for a Laboratory Analyst (PFAS) to join our growing team in Fort Wayne, IN.  The Laboratory Analyst (PFAS) prepares and analyzes Environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to approved scientific and EPA methodology in compliance with Element Materials Technology Testing Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).This position can be physical job that may require standing for long periods, working with organic solvents, laboratory glassware and specialized equipment.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in GC-MS, LC-MS, Wet Chemistry, and High Resolution Preparation and Analysis

 

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of samples using standard techniques
  • Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
  • Evaluation and quantification of data
  • Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
  • Performing routine instrument maintenance
  • Competency on complex instrumentation instrument specific software (training is provided)
  • Responsible for keeping personal training documentation (training records, IDOC/DOC) current and accurate.
  • Responsible for timely completion of assigned/scheduled QC samples (MDL, LOD/LOQ, PT)
  • Understands and utilizes backlog reports to manage personal workload.
  • Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
  • Responsible for general housekeeping in work area
  • Proficient, with IDOCs, for a minimum for 50% of methods carried out in the department
  • Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with ELEMENT MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY environmental, health and safety and quality assurance standards
  • Demonstrates and promotes the company vision

Skills / Qualifications

  • BS or BA in chemistry or related field. 3 -5 years laboratory experience may substitute for degree
  • EPA method D1633, 537.1 or 533 experience would be REQUIRED
  • Laboratory experience helpful
  • Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
  • Perform calculations with calculator / mathematical formulas
  • Complete work within time and quality constraints
  • Team participation and meeting management skills
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate good problem solving skills
  • Work independently following written or verbal instructions
  • Cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing
  • Participation in teamwork and meetings
  • Reading, writing and speaking skills
  • Follow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines:GC/GC-MS/LC-MS/Wet Chemistry/High Resolution Preparation and Analysis
