Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Contracts Specialist. Working closely with sales, legal, and operations, the Contracts Specialist will provide support in reviewing, negotiating, managing, reporting, and storing all contracts for the A&D Business Unit. The Contracts Specialist is required to ensure that all customer contracts are aligned with corporate policy, industry related best practices, and government regulatory requirements. The company is expected to grow rapidly over the next five years. One of the key requirements of this role is the ability to handle large volumes of work accurately and within tight timelines.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the preparation, negotiation, acceptance, and on-going review of assigned government and commercial contracts and subcontracts across the A&D business unit
  • Manage all phases of the contract administration process from inception through completion including preparing, reviewing, and approving all contractual documents to ensure protection of the company's contractual posture, satisfaction of contract specifications and requirements, identification of risk factors, and adherence to company policy, as well as appropriate laws and regulations
  • Manage contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements and customer specifications
  • Manage the review of agreements and evaluate documentation and authorization forms to identify problematic provisions and determine if the minimum requirements are met
  • Ensure the company's proprietary interests are protected and that company policy is followed
  • Advises management of contractual rights, issues, and obligations and provide interpretation of terms
  • Acts as primary contact for contracts activities and issues
  • Develop, execute, maintain, and continuously improve all Contract Management materials and resources for the Commerical Execellence Team
  • May represent the company with customers, potential customers and government representatives
  • Remains current on commercial and government laws, regulations and practices affecting contracts and related agreements
  • Facilitate the A&D contracts within established platform(s) (Sharepoint, Dock365, and others)
  • Improve the contracts process to increase efficiency
  • Develop and train internal partners on best practices

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 3 - 5 years experience in negotiating commercial and business contracts
  • 2 years of government contracting experience preferred
  • Excellent drafting and contract negotiation skills
  • Experience with a contracts lifecycle management system(s)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills to accurately document and report findings and new concepts to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and guide employees, managers, customers and other external parties
  • The ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate multiple work phases to maximize prioritization of critical contract activies
  • Ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
