Element has an opportunity for an Senior Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. Element Digital Engineering is a leading provider of specialist engineering simulation, design, and consultancy support to clients across many industries – including Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Built Environment and Chemical Process. Our technical work covers everything from using experience judgement and simple hand calculations to detailed simulation and numerical modelling; always mindful of the need to use the appropriate level of analysis fidelity to produce practical solutions for our clients.

As a part of our team, you will play a key role in providing our clients with; design support and verification services, operational troubleshooting, and technical safety assessments.

Thanks to sustained growth in demand for our services, we are looking for engineers with the experience of carrying out engineering analysis ideally in a consultancy environment, and a desire to develop other engineers joining the company. Positions are available in our Houston office.

• Assess complex engineering problems involving structural design, stress analysis and fracture mechanics and adopt or develop suitable approaches to solve them
• Lead and develop stress and structural integrity activities within our specialist team of engineers
• Interact with customers to identify and develop work scopes to solve their engineering challenges
• Support the activities required to find, win, and deliver engineering projects
• Deliver engineering consultancy projects across a range of industries and applications

We are looking for someone who:

• Can deliver engineering projects independently with awareness of quality, budget, and timescale
• Has the desire and ability to lead the development and growth of our structural activity
• Relishes working as part of a technically innovative and multi-disciplined technical team
• Enjoys customer interaction and taking responsibility
• Wants the opportunity to contribute to the wider development of the company
• Experience in either of; gas turbine critical parts lifting; offshore structural analysis; or analysis of high pressure high temperature equipment would be advantageous, but not essential

• A degree or post-graduate qualification in a relevant engineering or mathematical discipline
• A good understanding of engineering material behaviour, thermo-mechanical fatigue, fracture and crack propagation, and the modelling of contact behaviour
• A track record working in industry on defining and delivering projects involving structural design, stress analysis and fracture mechanics
• Experience of commercial finite element analysis software, preferably ABAQUS and/or ANSYS and able to develop new methods and extend their capability using user defined functions
• Familiarity with relevant structural integrity assessment and design codes
