Element has an opportunity for a Chemist, performing VOC and various testing on different materials used in the automotive industry. The primary function of the chemist is to perform sample preparation, execute tests and experiments per established procedures, delivery/collection of results and preparation of test reports. The Chemist position reports to the Department Supervisor, performing work within an independent environment, ensuring that tests and experiments are completed timely, within budget, and with a high level of professionalism and customer service.



  • Operation of Chromatographic equipment, with advanced experience utilizing GC-MS, stand-alone GC, and HPLC
  • Knowledge of Analytical Thermal Analysis equipment: TGA, DSC, and TMA
  • Responsible for maintaining and ensuring calibration of test equipment
  • Prepare and standardize test solutions and ensure proper handling and storage of all chemicals as per the
  • Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  • Analyze and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative test results
  • Generation of test reports, utilizing Microsoft software
  • Ability to cross-train and learn new equipment to provide backup support within the laboratory

Skills / Qualifications

  • BS degree in Chemistry, or 5 years minimum Chromatography experience in a similar role
  • Good communication skills: reading, writing, speaking
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and instrumentation software
  • Knowledge and experience of standard test equipment, with the ability to maintain, clean and use within a safe working manner
  • Ensuring compliance to all Element Material Technology quality standards and compliance to ISO 17025 requirements
  • The ability to work well within a team environment, having the flexibility to adjust work schedules to meet customer demands
