Project Engineer

Element has an opportunity for an experienced CAD Operator / Project Engineer to join our growing team based in Minnesota. This position will be located in Duluth, MN for 3-6 months, and then Minnetonka, MN full time.

  • Work with customers to design complex and simple models of anatomically correct cardiac models or vessels to be used for device testing
  • Modify models in order to make 3D prints for making silicone vessels/models
  • Mixing and inspection of silicone, consistently pouring multiple layers of silicone over models until desired wall thickness is met. Inspections of wall thickness with laser micrometer
  • Checking of specimen description details provided by clients prior to manufacturing to ensure that sufficient information has been provided to enable a complete and thorough quotation to be issued
  • To provide technical back-up, with respect to the survey and provision of drawings / specifications, department such that the models are provided within required time scales and are of appropriate quality
  • Ensuring that accurate surveys of models are conducted and the details are adequately recorded and checked against the information provided by the client
  • Liaising with the relevant Testing / Technical Officer and/or the client to obtain or clarify information
  • Production of drawings, schedules of components and, where appropriate, other written descriptions/documentation
  • Use of pressure leak equipment to validate models
  • Use of CAD and other systems to fulfil the above tasks
  • Liaising with sponsors, others and appropriate staff in connection with the above
  • Use of specialist equipment to provide other documents, visual aids, newsletters etc., required

Skills / Qualifications

  • Experienced and confident using 3D modeling software such as Materialise (preferred), AutoCAD, or Solidworks
  • Experience printing 3D models and understanding material properties
  • Experience with using bead blaster, UV machine, and laser micrometer
  • Good general education including English & Math
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working within a busy working environment
  • An understanding of health & safety
  • A self-motivated individual who takes pride in their work

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
